Product Review: Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder by Rawhonest

Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial.

This Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder is 100% natural and fluoride-free. The ingredients consist of coconut charcoal powder, natural flavor, and xylitol. It absorbs micro-stains from coffee, tea, wine, and soda on the teeth. It is also supposed to repair enamel, raise pH, and freshen breath. The directions to use it are easy, just simply put some of it on a soft toothbrush, gently brush your teeth for two minutes, and rinse. Best results are supposed to happen from using this twice a day.

I tried just dabbing the powder onto my toothbrush and too much of it got loose in the sink so I decided to use a miniature spoon to apply it on with. I had better success wetting my toothbrush before I added it because when I wet it later it caused a mess in my sink. Even after I brushed my teeth with it and not much of the powder fell off into the sink, the sink still needed to be cleaned out every time I used it with a damp paper towel.

It took some getting used to using this powder after using toothpaste my whole life. After I used it I felt like I needed to brush my teeth again with toothpaste (even after using mouthwash), just because the consistency looks and feels powdery and it left black spots in between my teeth where the powder stuck to it. It kind of felt like brushing my teeth with healthy dirt in a way, because some types of earthy products like that are good for you and I trust that this one is too.

In general, I think I will stick with using toothpaste for now but will probably use this as a supplement because it did leave my teeth looking pretty white, especially when I used it twice a day like the directions stated. I had been using teeth whitening mouthwash and it seemed like this product whitened my teeth as good or better than my mouth wash. I mostly wanted to try this product because I like using coconut products (because they have been good for a medical condition I have), because I drink a lot of tea, and because it is supposed to be good for enamel. I didn't taste or smell coconut when using this product but I trust that it is in there.

My review = 3 out of 5 stars
